How can I upload a video longer than 2 minutes to FamilyAlbum?
The free plan of FamilyAlbum only accepts videos up to 2 minutes long (since July 2024). Split the video into segments of 2 minutes or less with FA VideoSplitter and save them to the Photos app, then upload all the split videos to FamilyAlbum.
Does splitting reduce the video quality?
No. Segments are normally cut from the original video without re-encoding, so the quality is the same as the original.
Is the original video deleted?
No. Split videos are saved as separate videos, and the original stays as it is.
Where are the split videos saved?
In the "FA動画分割" album of the Photos app. They keep the original recording date, so they appear at the original date in the Photos app and in FamilyAlbum.
What lengths can I split into?
From 1 to 10 minutes, in 1-minute steps. The video is divided into segments of nearly equal length (for example, a 12:26 video split at 2 minutes becomes 7 videos of about 1:47 each). With FamilyAlbum Premium, which accepts videos up to 10 minutes, choosing 10 minutes gives you fewer videos.
